Our parents and grandparents came here to build a life. To work hard, persevere, and keep a low profile. That’s what has brought us to where we are today: in boardrooms, on stages, and at the drawing boards of organizations.
Our generation has something they didn’t have: the space to pause and reflect. To ask what dharma, abhyasa, seva, and karma mean for the choices you make on Monday mornings. Colleagues know your results, but they rarely know your story.
Udaya was founded to bring those two together. The conference is our first event where this is happening on this level, with speakers who are already doing it.

Ragna Indra Heidweiller
Writer for De Correspondent • author of *We Are Here Because of You*Six generations ago, her ancestor boarded a ship in India bound for Suriname. Ragna retraced that history, from India through Suriname to the Netherlands, and wrote a book about it that finally tells the untold story of the Hindustani indentured laborers. She broke the silence within her own family and shows what it costs when these stories are not passed down.
As a writer for De Correspondent and with a background in leadership training, she brings together two worlds that rarely sit at the same table: background and leadership. At the Udaya Conference, she’ll discuss dharma during the College Tour: staying true to where you come from while moving forward.

As a boy, he used to sit in the stands. Now he sits at the boardroom table of the same club. Shashi Baboeram Panday is the CFO of AFC Ajax and, prior to that, served as CFO of Talpa for over eleven years, where he was involved in the sale of Talpa Media to ITV in 2015. He began his career as an accountant at Deloitte and is a former board member of the Nederlands Fotomuseum and ArtEZ University of the Arts.
Shashi doesn’t seek the spotlight. That’s precisely why his story is worth hearing: it’s about the practice that goes into reaching the top, and about what you need to keep doing once you’re there. At the Udaya Conference, he’ll join the College Tour for a conversation about abhyasa.
